Market outlook  

Stock market: The market bounced up right from the opening and turned down when it hit 1,190. At the end of the session, VN-Index closed at 1,172.56 points, down nearly 8 points compared to yesterday. Market breadth leaned to the negative side with 7/18 sectors gaining, in which the biggest gain belonged to the Chemical sector. Regarding the transactions of foreign investors, today they net sold on the HSX and net bought on the HNX. In the next few sessions, the market may trade around 1,180.
 
Future contracts: Futures contracts decreased according to the movement of VN30. It is recommended that investors trade cautiously in the coming sessions.
 
Covered warrants: In the trading session on August 23, 2023, covered warrants fluctuated along with the struggling movement of the underlying stocks.
 
Highlight:
• VN-Index -7.93 points, closing at 1172.56. HNX-Index -1.58 points, closing at 238.07.
• Pulling the index up: GAS (+0.78), VIC (+0.48), VNM (+0.42), GVR (+0.15), DGC (+0.14).
• Pulling the index down: VCB (-2.88), VHM (-1.07), HPG (-0.71), VPB (-0.58), STB (-0.57).
• The matched value of VN-Index reached VND 14867 billion, decreased -24.86% compared to the previous session. The total transaction value reached VND 17178 billion.
• The trading range is 24.90 points. The market had 176 advancers, 71 reference stocks, 281 decliners.
• Foreign investors' net selling value: VND -556.36 billion on HOSE, including HPG (-218.17 billion), VPB (-114.7 billion), STB (-74.27 billion). Foreign investors were net buyers on HNX with the value of VND 5.23 billion.
